Three Sisters Stand Up for Jesus

Being
brought up Hindu and leaving it to follow Christ can be a very
dangerous thing to do. Three young sisters, Kusumam (20), Kalpana (18 )
and Poonam (16) have come to realize just how true this is.
It all started when Kusumam was invited to attended church with
her Uncle N. It was there that she heard the message of love that
Christ has for her, and she wanted to share this love that filled her
heart so deeply with her two sisters. In a short time, all three
sisters came to know Christ in a very personal way.
But one night while having devotions in their home, a group of
radical Hindus barged in, threatened and assaulted the girls, because
of their faith in Christ. They were ordered to stop and never again
pray to Jesus or follow Christianity. The sisters stood firm in their
refusal to deny Christ, and would not yield to pressure from these
Hindu radicals or their parents, supporters of these Hindu fanatics.
The gang members returned the next day to check on the girls.
They were so furious to see one of the girls, Kalpana, reading a Bible
that they pulled and dragged her by the hair, and pushed her against
the wall. She was ordered to stop Christian activities immediately and
told they would be back in the evening.
Holding true to their threat, the gang members returned to the
home and became even more hostile when they discovered the young women
had not destroyed any of their Christian literature. The men shouted
that the Jesus they were praying to would do nothing for them. When the
girls refused to renounce Christ, the Hindu fanatics threw the Bible on
the ground and began stomping on their Christian literature. At that
moment, it became clear that the decision to follow Christ was going to
come with a cost.
The girls informed their Uncle N. of the incident, and he
notified the police. The leader of the gang was immediately arrested,
but was only held for a short time before he was released.
The girls cannot return home. They have been disowned by their
parents because of their faith in Christ. Their Uncle N. lost his job
as a delivery driver when it was discovered that he was the one that
led the girls to Christ and helped them during this time. VOM has
provided Uncle N. with a vehicle for work so he can help support the
girls. VOM is also ensuring the girls have the things they need to live
and succeed in their new place.
Please pray for these three sisters and their uncle as they
continue to walk forward in their faith and rely on the love of the
Father.
